MAINTENANCE ARTIST is a portrait of eco-feminist NYC artist Mierle Laderman Ukeles, who has been the Artist in Residence at the Department of Sanitation since 1976. The film is a mediation on the often invisible labor that keeps our cities alive and a powerful affirmation of public service and shared responsibility in our world.
